The Short of Things

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 11, 2012, 9:54 PM

~ I was gonna do a round-up of 2011 at the start of January... its now half way through February...

~ I haven't really got much further in any of my artistic projects since the end of November

~ I have spent the summer moving between my old university residence hall, home, our holiday home, and my new flat.

~ I am now essentially completely moved into my new flat... its not bad but there are a few minor gripes i have with the place

~ I don't have a lot else to say really... I'm still around though, just not very active

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
umm... did a summer paper at uni... kinda...

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i think i said i wanted to be more confident in 2011... which i think i achieved... for 2012 i want to finish more of the things i start

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
no

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
none. (boring aren't i?)

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
errgh... being able to focus on getting things done

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
probably 22nd February when the 6.1 earthquake happened since that was pretty major...

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
umm... probably successfully running a lot of recreational events for the hall of residence i was staying in

9. What was your biggest failure?
not being able to stay focused on uni work

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
more than likely... i'm kinda accident prone

11. What was the best thing you bought?
its kinda weird but i'd probably say my oversized cotton sweatshirt that i got for $6 at a secondhand clothing shop

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
can't think of anyone that really stands out for this...

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
nor this... but at least i'm happier with the way i behaved in 2011 than i was with the way i behaved in 2010

14. Where did most of your money go?
snacks... petrol... costume items...

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
errmm... potentially the wanaka roadtrip in november

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
errrgh...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier?
yeah i think so

ii. thinner or fatter?
Thinner probably - i didn't eat so much in 2011 as i did other years

iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer - as a result of flat expenses + no income...

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Study.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
procrastinating

20. How did you spend Christmas?
at the grandparents... as usual

21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
yerp

22. How many one-night stands?
None and never will be

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Same answer as last year: Definitely definitely Doctor Who - doesn't change but strengthened in 2010 by sharing the love of this show with some awesome new friends... Season 7/8 of CSI: NY was pretty good... New show in 2011 for me was Firefly...

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
umm... not that i can think of... i generally don't hate people.

25. What was the best book you read?
i don't think i finished any books in 2011... how awful of me O:

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
that i actually didn't mind dubstep as much as i thought i would...

27. What did you want and get?
uh... a fun year with some awesome friends

28. What did you want and not get?
i wanted to go to Armageddon Expo... but it got postponed and downsized because of the earthquake... and it ended up on a date i couldn't go on...

29. What was your favorite film of 2011?
X-Men First Class... i think that was the only movie i saw last year... no wait i saw Pirates of the Carribean 4 as well... and probably others but i don't remember them...

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Uh... turned 20... the bbq for 2010 hall leavers was on my birthday so i caught up with some people i hadn't seen in a while... then i went for a drive over the port hills with Chanpers... and had dinner and cake with my floor at the hall...

31. What's one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less interruptions from scumbag earthquakes

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Pah... i wore what i felt like mostly... didn't have a strict concept as such

33. What kept you sane?
Chanpers... and copious amounts of chocolate

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
tbh... i didn't do that as much in 2011... i think the answer remains the same as last year though...

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Every single thing to do with the election... The National Party being lying bastards and still getting into power with a majority...

36. Who did you miss?
Mostly my family when i was away from home, and Chanpers cos i didn't get to see her as much in 2011

37. Who was were the best new person you met?
Would have to be my now boyfriend, Peter

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011?
uh... "Things can change in the blink of an eye"...?

Ten things about me:

1. I have many ideas and intentions but am extremely lazy...

2. I am neither a girly-girl nor a strict tomboy... i swing wildly between being one or the other.

3. I feel like i am never in good health no matter what i do and i hate it

4. I like Wednesdays. usually.

5. I have strong opinions about many things but feel bad when i go to express those opinions in front of people i know.

6. I hate the drinking culture that seems to be required to have a social life. Its retarded and makes me incredibly angry.

7. I did ballet for 14 years. I liked the expressive freedom it gave me even if i wasn't great at it.

8. I imagine things too easily... and put too much emotional investment into things that may never eventuate

9. I generally enjoy life but there are times it can feel a little meaningless

10. I think if i did this quiz again in a week my answers may well be very different. I also think i've answered this far to philosophically.

not really... i know it rained and that dad had to work cos of the y2k bug...

2. What's your favourite joke?
My favourite jokes are long winded ones about silly irish men as they were some of the first i every learnt :/

Honestly? I think he's a bit of a dick who thinks too highly of himself

5. Have you ever gotten a trophy for anything, or come close?
I won the regional Science fair in 2008 and got two trophies for that, one for being the overall winner and one for the best individual research

6. What's your favourite recipe that uses lemons?
I love lemon recipes... lemon muffins, lemon/citrus no-bake slice, lemon magic pudding, etc etc...

7. What colour car do you like the most?
Do i have to choose?! it really depends what type of car it is...

8. What's the spiciest thing you've ever eaten?
We got a bag of mixed chili's from a farmers market once... it did not end well

9. What's the best prank you've pulled (ie. trolled?) on someone?
I don't usually pull pranks on people... the time we convinced a girl in our class that NZ would sink if we tried to host the Olympics was memorable though...

10. Best type of candy/chocolate?
my favourite chocolate is whittakers creamy milk,
my favourite candy is probably sour skittles...
